So today has been a gorgeous day here in the Pilbara but you can feel it cooling down for sure. Winter has arrived and its such a beautiful time but a lot cooler than we are used too. Think that is why I have gone for a Christmas theme card as when it starts to get cold and the nights cut in for me that's is the Christmas period! So yep its a Christmas entry! Using my fave Edwin Christmas stamp-Edwin with Santa mask. So here it is along with details on how to colour, create and what I have used.
Here are the tools I used to create this card.I have used KC basic cardstock in Forest green which goes lovely with the KC Christmas paper pad you can see it is 'Twig and Berry' very festive don't you think. I have also used a Spellbinders die in Large fancy oval. I actually cut two of these out as one is done in the copic paper and the other is in a design paper. I think cut the design paper middle out and stuck the fancy part to the white paper to create a lovely coloured border. I stamped Edwin in Memento ink 'expresso truffle' as you guys know, my fave colour. I then used the Tim Holtz Distress ink pad in 'Festive Berries' to add the red around Edwin.
Then it was time to follow the sketch! the girls at MDUC asked for two tags, a layered paper selection and a piece that goes across the back. Lovely design. Here you can see I have use the Twig and Berry bad and the cream paper at the back is actually fuzzy! feels lovely and decadent for this type of card! The next is a gorgeous red colour. This pad is full of beautiful rich colours. I cut them in so you could see the green card stock. I like doing this as it shows all the layers you use and gives a lovely spectrum of colour. I then used my 'Vintage tag' die from Magnolia and cut two tags using my Cuttlebug. I used the opposite colour on each for the area that is around the gift tag hole. I then tied some 'Turtle Dove' ribbon from the other KC collection from 2012 through the hole. Both the red and cream are velvet ribbons.
I then added a berry border to behind the stamped image of Edwin.
Then I set to work and coloured my image. Here are his colours!
Skin: YR000, E21, R30, R20, R01 and for Santa the same but also added in R02
Hair: E55, YR21
Suit coat: R17 and R89- for the shadow
Pants: GO5, G28 YG67
Fur of coat and beard: C7, C1
Boots: C7, BV23, R17
For his buttons I added green rhinestones. For his boot buckle I used Stickles 'black diamond' and for Santa's beard I used stickles in 'fairy dust' to bring a shimmer. I then added dimensional Magic from Plaid to his hat and boots.
I finished off by adding some collectables to the tags '25th' and 'North Pole express' and green rhinestones to the left side of the card. Final touch was a charm in the shape of Santa's glasses in the bottom right hand corner.
Hope you enjoy
